BatteryBae is built to collect as little as possible, ideally nothing. This policy explains exactly what happens to data when you use the App and the website.
The App periodically checks our update service (api.amore.computer, operated by our distribution provider, Amore) for new versions. As with any web request, this exposes your IP address, the app version, and your macOS version to that service. We use this only to deliver updates; no analytics profile is attached.
When you activate your licence key, the App sends the licence key, a device identifier derived from your Mac's serial number, your computer's name, and a one-time code to our licensing provider (Amore) to issue and periodically re-check (about weekly) a signed licence token. This ties the licence to your device(s) and prevents abuse. It is not used to track behaviour. Between checks the App validates the token offline within a grace period.
Whali Technologies Ltd is the seller and merchant of record. Payments are processed on our behalf by Stripe; licence keys are issued and validated by Amore. Stripe processes your payment and contact details under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card details. We receive only what we need to deliver your licence, provide support, and meet tax/accounting obligations. After payment, Stripe redirects you to our activation page with a one-time checkout reference in the web address; we use it only to count that a purchase happened and do not store it.
We use a small number of processors, each only for the purpose shown: Stripe (payment processing, including tax calculation), Amore (licence issuance/validation and update delivery), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (sending the Mac download-link email when you request it), and Umami (anonymous, cookie-free website statistics). Some may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
The BatteryBae website serves static pages on Vercel. To understand which pages people visit and where visitors come from, we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device; it records anonymous, aggregate statistics: pages viewed, referrer, browser and operating-system type, country, and counts of interactions such as clicks on the download button and completed purchases. It does not build profiles, does not track you across other sites, and cannot identify you; IP addresses are not stored. Because it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, it does not require the consent banner that cookie-based analytics would. The host may retain standard server logs for security and reliability.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and provide support. We don't add you to marketing lists without consent.
BatteryBae is a Mac app, so if you're on a phone you can ask us to email you the download link to open later on your Mac. We use the email address you enter only to send that one download link, via our email provider Resend. We don't add you to any marketing list, don't share it, and don't use it for anything else. If you don't want the link, just ignore the email. Lawful basis: your consent (you asked us to send it).
We rely on: performance of a contract (delivering and validating your licence, providing updates and support); legitimate interests (keeping the App secure and preventing licence abuse); and legal obligation (tax/accounting records).
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability, under UK/EU GDPR. To exercise any of these (or to complain), email admin@whali.co.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
BatteryBae is a suggestive novelty app intended for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
